Glee-ful

glee2One of my favorite new shows of the season is turning out to be Glee. When the first ep was aired back in May, after American Idol, my friend Laura and I, who watch AI together, decided that we wanted Glee to be one of the shows we would watch. Just one more show to share and obsess about.

Well, when they aired the director’s cut of the first ep of Glee , I just felt compelled to follow along. Then, for some reason, I actually watched it once again while I was packing to go away. Now that I’ve seen the second ep, twice, I find that its honestly growing on me. Alright, I was watching American Idol, so clearly I like singing, and I don’t think you can ever go wrong with song and dance numbers. I read a quote (maybe on Twitter or maybe it was in one of the ads, but I don’t remember, so I can’t credit anyone) where someone said that Glee is the show where every ep is the musical one. OK, somehow that sounded funnier when I read it, so clearly I’m not even quoting it right, but know what I mean. I’m a fan of the musical episodes, so Glee is right up my alley.

Honestly, I was worried because when a show has been hyped so much, it can kinda fall flat after the premiere, but I liked the second ep as much as the first. I find myself interested in the story and the characters. The cast is really talented, well suited to their parts and all seem to work together. Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester is just perfect! Of course, my big thing is 80’s music, although I’m fairly open-minded music-wise (aside from Country music, which should be rounded up and thrown down in the depest pit of despair, never to be heard from again) so I’m happy with the way they are mixing up the music, some older, some newer, with plenty of random 80’s stuff.

If you haven’t seen Glee (thought how you’ve managed to avoid it with all the hype is beyond me) and you can deal with song and dance, you should check it out, Wednesdays on Fox at 9:00 pm ET.
